Snake River

Reservoir on the Snake River about 17 miles from Weiser, ID. The road to get here, which also has a small state park, was mostly dirt; like driving over the typical washboard service road. Our son in law and our two grandchildren actually swam in the reservoir!109-DSC_3976

Trains along the Way

Driving along I40, from east to west, we discovered that the train line that runs parallel and is very busy. The train tunnel caught my eye as it looks like one tunnel was started and then abandoned. I wonder if the original survey was incorrect or just ran in to trouble?

Abandoned Route 66 (Con’t.)

If you’re a Trainspotter, driving along I-40 and Route 66 is a great place to get your train ‘kicks’. It makes sense that train and vehicle routes would go hand in hand. Road trips are a great platform for discovery. I discovered that my wife was a closet ‘trainspotter’. She rarely failed to point out a train as we traveled and seemed to be truly excited with each sighting.
