Lake Crescent: Pt. 2

Just a couple more images of Lake Crescent. Multilayered cloud formations were fun to watch as they pass over the lake.

Our grandson, Elliott, having a little fun with me :-).

Clouds Drifting

035-IMG_0046Probably one of the coolest phenomenon at Lake Crescent was these low clouds that drifted in over the lake. There’s probably a simple explanation for this weather effect, but for me it seems a bit mysterious.

Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent. The image with the kayaks near the lake is from the opposite side of the lake where we stayed. The other three images are from the shore of the lake where ew stayed one night. Our grandson, Elliott, is featured in one of those photos.

Very scenic area. The clouds would pass over the lake as you see. I think I have one more image of the cloud formations that I will post next time.

Photo credits: Ian King took the three images on his iPhone 5 and my photo has my watermark.

Floral from Seaside

Motoring about on Big Red gave me a chance to see things I might otherwise miss.

It’s kind of like walking and doing street photography, but at a faster pace.

Note: One week away from our next adventure. This time we are going around the Olympic Peninsula, clockwise, if that makes sense?

Also, the screen door I ordered, from the Coachmen factory in Ohio, is on its way to Seattle. Should be here on the 24th. Once here, I will have to see what sort of hardware pieces I will need and maybe have time to install it before the next adventure.

Seaside Architecture

While motoring around on a electric trike ( check out Cozytrikes.com).  More on that in the next post as it is a story in itself. I was able to cover a lot of ground quickly, such as the side streets of Seaside which were virtually absent of noise from all of the tourists ( such as me). The house and cottage above caught my eye. I think the cottage is a rental or B&B. The other house is kind of a typical ocean shore house you might see along the beach, although much less pretentious and costly. The house faces West, the direction the wind and weather blown in from the Pacific Ocean, so it makes sense to have a covered porch and the second story protected by the roofline, rather than windows.

Twilight in Idaho

The night before the eclipse there were some clouds hanging about. The sky turned this color, sort of a prelude to the celestial magic that was to occur the following morning.

Note: It took me about a dozen attempts to capture the actual color of the sky/clouds. My daughter is my witness as she was standing next to me asking: ‘Did you get it”? The pressure was on as the light was fading, to find the right camera setting.
